Has anyone else seen this, and do you have an opinion on if it is a comedy or not?

Haven’t seen it but plan to. It’s floating around 90% on rotten tomatoes last time I checked and that’s unheard of. Also, all of the local folks who I know have seen it liked it, which also surprises me. I don’t have any specific thoughts yet, but I’ll get back to you.

I will see it on DVD, like I see 90% of my movies now.

I had a chance to see it today. I think it is indeed a comedy but not in the typical sense of the word. I think it is a comedy in the more historical sense. There is a ‘happy’ ending. However the movie is not peppered with your traditional comedic exchanges and it isn’t your typical ‘feel good’ surface level comedy ending. Once I’ve thought about it some more I’ll try to write a post on it.

I did mean comedy in the classical sense. The comedy question originally came up because of the subplot of the adopters. I was surprised at what ended up happening to them, and it really made me wonder if they deserved it, or if that was what was supposed to have made them happy. Either way I really like the movie as a whole, and would recommend it. I have been told it is the first movie where an attempted abortion is not followed through on, and the idea of abortion is repudiated in a blatant manner.
