Despite the many reminders that this Christmas was supposed to be a meager one (due to my Dad being unemployed up until recently), I was pleasantly surprised on Sunday morning. Part of it may be due to the fact that all of my siblings are of working age and consequently have picked up where my parents left off, but at the same time, I think that many of my presents were the result of very shrewd bargain hunting.
Allow me to give you some highlights from this year.
Philosophy in the Flesh: The Embodied Mind and Its Challenge to Western Thought
– Lakoff and Johnson
Above All Earthly Pow’rs
– David Wells
– Death Cab for Cutie
Symbolism and American Literature
– Charles Feidelson, Jr.
Christian and Oriental Philosophy of Art
– Ananda K. Coomaraswamy
Semiotics and the Philosophy of Language
– Umberto Eco
There you have it. Maybe I’ll have an opportunity to post some comments once I have begun reading through them.
Have a Happy New Year!
