In lockstep with my leader, I will post this for reference.
How is a $300,000,000,000 housing bill supposed to help us be responsible with our money? If anything, this encourages me to let my house payments get behind. After all, the government will bail me out. The bill punishes responsible homeowners by forcing us to use our taxes to help those who bit off more house than they could chew.

It’s never been about being responsible with out money. Our economy is run by debt. There’s no better way to keep you spending money than encouraging you to spend it before you make it. Why do you think the gov’t spent millions to send out a single letter to folks telling them how to calculate their Economic Stimulus money. So they spend it before they have it.
Christians should be encouraging responsible financial habits and when things like this do occur, it would be much better if the church was helping folks, instead of the gov’t. This sort of stuff just reinforces people’s idea of the state as savior.
